ZALTBOMMEL - FeedValid has started a strategic cooperation with Rodenburg Biopolymers from Oosterhout (North Brabant, The Netherlands). This cooperation is a logical consequence of two complementary family businesses. "Our companies are both known as frontrunners in upgrading residual streams from the food industry into new circular products. Together we have more clout and knowledge for innovation," explained FeedValid director Robin Weening.

“Rodenburg Biopolymers is a family business that processes plant-based raw materials, including residual streams from the AGF industry, into high-quality new products. In addition to producing pet food ingredients from potato residue streams, we have become a specialist in biobased technology. For example, we convert starch into environmentally friendly bioplastics. With everything we do, we want to create a positive and sustainable impact. We also see and recognize this mentality at FeedValid. Our pet food activities overlap, but the other activities are very complementary,” adds director Thijs Rodenburg of Rodenburg Biopolymers.

Circular pioneers

“We are circular pioneers at heart,” agrees Weening. “Where we can get the raw materials transition into a higher gear, we like to lead the way. At the same time, a successful circular economy requires chain cooperation. In Rodenburg Biopolymers we have found the perfect partner and can take our sustainability strategy to the next level. Starting this spring, the commercial pet food activities of Rodenburg Biopolymers will be transferred to FeedValid. We have our production sites in Nieuwdorp and Poederoijen. Rodenburg Biopolymers will further develop its production site in Oosterhout. This will allow us to offer our joint suppliers and customers even more continuity, security and sustainable solutions.”

Making connections

By joining forces, Rodenburg Biopolymers and FeedValid see plenty of opportunities. Weening: “This collaboration creates room for innovation and broadens the field of vision, allowing us to even better meet the increasing demand for circular solutions.” “Co-creation is an indispensable factor for innovation,” Rodenburg continues. “Not for nothing is Rodenburg Biopolymers initiator of the ‘Side Stream Innovation Valley’; a campus where companies, knowledge and educational institutions work together on the valorization of organic residual streams. You can’t get anywhere on your own. If we want to make a sustainable difference, we must make the connection; exchange ideas and know-how. This cooperation with FeedValid is an excellent example of that,” concludes Rodenburg.
