In video series "Brabantse Zaken", entrepreneurs tell their stories. No policy jargon, just real stories from people who are working with the province to build a strong and sustainable economy in Brabant. This time, we hear from family business Rodenburg Biopolymers.

From potato waste to groundbreaking bioplastics

For three generations and 80 years, the Rodenburg family has been getting the most out of potatoes. Where grandfather Rodenburg started by reusing peelings, Thijs Rodenburg and his brother are now developing bioplastics and platform molecules from starch in potato waste streams. With endless applications: from biodegradable packaging to sustainable alternatives to chemicals used worldwide.

Rodenburg shows how waste streams can be turned into high-quality, environmentally friendly products. This makes them not only unique in Brabant, but also a major player on the international stage.

The province of North Brabant supports pioneers like this. Together with partners such as BOM and REWIN, we are building a strong biotech sector that uses waste streams as raw materials for a circular, plant-based future.
